The SkiingNendaz is part of the 4-Vallées ski area which is the largest connected ski area in Switzerland and competes with the French Trois Vallées, Portes de Soleil and Val d'isère and Tignes areas in terms of size and variety of terrain. There are several different types of ski passes in the region:
Novice skiers should not need more than a PRINTZE pass, which can be extended if and as required. The resort and area also has discounted prices for families and all ski lifts are free of charge for children up to 8 years old.
The combined area lift system can carry over 72,500 persons per hour, and has 5 cable cars (including 'Le Jumbo' carrying 160 persons!), 14 gondolas (including the new Funitels carrying 30 persons in each car), 33 chair lifts and 49 drag lifts. In all there are 30 blue runs, 40 red runs and 12 black runs providing 103kms of black runs, 168kms of red runs and 129kms of blue runs. The Haute-Route (Ski Tour) and other High Mountain Tours offer some of the most challenging runs in the Alps. Ski and Boot HireThere are several sports shops and ski/boot hire shops in Nendaz. We have used Mariethoz Sports. If you go in and mention Chalet Liane you will get a 10% discount. Winter WalksIn Winter: There are 15 marked hiking trails kept open and maintained which cover more than 90 km.
